What’s so special about charity shops? (Spoiler – it’s everything!)
There’s been a lot of chat online and in the mainstream media lately about charity shops. Some if it has been pretty unpleasant, with accusations of overpricing, poor quality stock and bad customer service.
We working in the sector know that in the main, that just isn’t true. And we also know how fast stories spread nowadays – and that keyboard warriors sometimes can’t wait to stick the boot in.
So what do we do about it?
There are lots of things we need to do as a sector to help protect our space in the pre-loved market. These will include working collectively to shout louder about our values, our contribution and the social impact we have. But we can all take steps now to talk about the amazing things charity shops do – and how they simply make the world a better place.
At Charity Retail Learning, we have a suite of courses that can help you make a start with that. Whether you want to improve your marketing in-store to help connect the shop with your cause, or if you want to take to social media to run impactful campaigns, we’ve got you covered.
Our marketing and engagement courses are all FREE as part of a CRL subscription – or you can choose them to include in a Flex bundle, if you wanted to focus your learning on fewer courses.
Here’s some of our content – and what our learners have said about it:
